About the Role

Long Beach BLAST is seeking an Academic Mentoring Program (AMP) Intern to help administer and support BLAST’s Academic Mentoring Program. The AMP Intern duties include serving as an Academic Mentor; assisting in facilitating mentor trainings; assisting the AMP Team with the recruitment, training, screening, placement and support of all college student volunteers; supporting parents and mentees; and completing other projects as assigned (discussed during interview). An internship consists of no less than 60 hours spread out over at least twelve weeks or as required by your Internship Program. Initial scheduling is flexible, but it should remain consistent throughout the internship.

Requirements

1. Complete online volunteer application Lbblast.org and supplementary internship application (attached) 2. Schedule a Zoom interview with Raul, Academic Mentoring Program Manager
3. Attend a 3-hour pre-placement training for the Academic Mentoring Program
4. Attend a mandatory internship onboarding meeting and training via zoom
5. Pass a background check
6. Commit to 60 or more hours and at least 12 consistent weeks or as required by your internship program
7. Availability between 9:00 am and 5:30 pm
8. Current undergraduate or graduate student
9. Access to technology (Laptop, PC, Chromebook or tablet with a webcam) with a reliable internet connection
