About the Role

Internship Learning Objectives
• Gain a deeper understanding of the assets and challenges facing the underserved Southeast Los Angeles region;
• Gain a deeper understanding of the role nonprofits play in informing, empowering, and engaging community members by supporting the executive office staff;
• Develop familiarity with the concepts of systems change and collaborative work and how they are applied in real-world situations through interactions with nonprofit leaders;
• Develop familiarity with the nonprofit landscape in Southeast Los Angeles and associated strengths and challenges by supporting the Collaborative’s communications efforts;
• Develop familiarity with the nonprofit fundraising process by assisting the Collaborative with grant research;
• Strengthen organizational skills by assisting with planning, set-up, clean-up and supply management related to outreach activities conducted by the SELA Collaborative;
• Gain first-hand experience working collaboratively with team members in a dynamic nonprofit environment;
• Develop awareness of the critical role communication plays in collaborative work

Requirements

Please note students chosen as interns will be expected to attend an orientation session prior to the beginning of the semester and an exit interview at the end of the semester. All interns will also be required to provide a copy of their photo ID before beginning their work on site.
